Four high school golfers from the Chattanooga area were included in the Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state team for the fall 2016 season. Baylor's Sam Marshall and A.J. Lintunen earned spots on the Division II-AA boys' team, while Signal Mountain's Lindsey Hollis is on the Class A/AA team and St. Andrew's-Sewanee's Hannah Powell is on the Division II-A list.

Basketball

* Covenant College freshman Caleb Haynes from Section, Ala., was honored Monday as the USA South men's basketball rookie of the week following two road wins in which he averaged 11 points and eight rebounds and shot 73.3 percent from the field. He scored 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting against Millsaps and is shooting 58.3 percent for the season.

* The Lee University women's basketball team won 67-56 in a Gulf South Conference doubleheader Monday at West Alabama, but the Lee men fell for the third time in a row, 71-60. Erin Walsh made four 3-point baskets and scored 18 points for the Lady Flames (9-2, 4-1), who got 11 points apiece from Haley Cornellison and Lindsey Roddy, 10 plus 10 rebounds from Anna Woodford and nine rebounds from Carrie Cheeks. For the Flames (6-5, 2-3), Keevin Tyus scored 19 points and Cody Farley had 13 points and three steals.

Track & Field

* Brothers Kedrick and Kendrick Wilbanks qualified for the New Balance National Indoor track and field meet with their 60-meter times in the 17-18-year-old competition in the Alumni Age Group Speed Invitational last Friday at the Birmingham Crossplex, and Chattanooga Jets teammate Brevin Sims qualified for the nationals' freshman division with his 60 time of 7.51 seconds in the 15-16 age group. Kedrick Wilbanks ran a 6.98, Kendrick a 7.04. The Jets got meet-record wins in the 60 and 200 from both Avery Hubbard in the 19-plus open division (6.80 and 21.89) and Danielle Dunning in 9-10 girls (8.54 and 27.85).
