Reggie Upshaw from Chattanooga and Baylor School was the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's college basketball men's player of the week for his career-high 34 points with nine rebounds and four steals in Middle Tennessee State's victory over UAB. He made four 3-point baskets in the game and became the fourth player in Blue Raiders history to surpass 1,250 career points and 750 career rebounds. He's averaging 15.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game this season.

* The Dalton State men's basketball team jumped from unranked in the NAIA Top 25 poll to No. 9 on Tuesday. Coach Tony Ingle's Roadrunners are 10-1 overall and 2-1 in the Southern States Athletic Conference, and they host Martin Methodist on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

* Tennessee Wesleyan beat the Union College women 71-62 but lost 100-81 to the sixth-ranked Union men in AAC basketball Tuesday, The TWU women (7-7, 5-3) won with balance, as Summer Morris scored 16 points and eight teammates scored six to eight. Hunter Simpson made four steals. Tre Tiller had 15 points and five assists and Kenny Dean, Lenny Pradia and Johnson Decembre scored 14, 13 and 12 points for the TWU men (8-4, 5-2), but Gerrard Newby and Tyrone Sherman had 32 and 20 points and nine and 12 rebounds for Union (14-3, 7-0).

* The Bryan College women whipped visiting Point 65-37 in AAC basketball Tuesday, and the Bryan men completed a sweep with a 74-67 win featuring 28 points, five 3s, seven rebounds and four assists by Oteriah Lee. Reagan Johnson added four 3s and 16 points for the Lioons, and Brice Cusick had eight rebounds. For the Lady Lions, Amber Levi had 19 points and seven rebounds, Maebry McNeese and Megan Billingsby scored 15 and 13 points and Erisha Talley had six assists.

* Rebecca Cheeks from Sonoraville High School had 29 points and 19 rebounds as the AAC-leading Reinhardt women held off Columbia (S.C.) 66-62 on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles are 15-1, 7-1.

* The Covenant women won 69-62 at Sewanee after trailing 49-32 in the third quarter. Joanna Smith had 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists and Rachel Price scored 10 points for the Lady Scots (6-4). For Sewanee (3-8), Bella Taylor had 18 points and matched Savannah Rose's five steals, Sue Kim had 16 points with four 3s and seven assists and Corey Caulder added 11 points and seven rebounds.

* Brody Stone had 26 points and 12 rebounds as the Sewanee men won 85-83 in two overtimes at Piedmont. Adrian Thomas had 16 points and seven rebounds and Clay Born and Cam Caldwell added 14 and 10 points for the Tigers (7-4).
