Tom Arth enters the Stadium Club Tuesday to speak to fans, the media and attending players for the first meeting as the new Chattanooga Mocs head football coach midday at Finley Stadium.

Football coach Tom Arth announced the completion of his first University of Tennessee at Chattanooga staff Friday.

Jonathan Cooley is the new defensive backs coach, Demarcus Covington will coach outside linebackers and Ryan Aplin is the new wide receivers coach. In addition, Scott Aligo joins the program as the director of player personnel.

The hirings previously had been reported by the Times Free Press.

"It is very exciting to have our staff complete," Arth said in a news release. "We feel so confident in the men we have brought into our program, and they are going to set outstanding examples for our student-athletes in so many ways. They are experts in their field and this is the most important place in the world to them.

"They are all excited to get started and get out on the road recruiting. We are very pleased to have such an incredible group together."

Arth had previous relationships with most, having coached Cooley at John Carroll and with Aligo being on his previous staff at the Ohio school. He said Covington "blew me away" in the interview process.

"I had never met him, but I had heard so many great things from a number of people that I respect," Arth said. "Within 10 seconds of meeting him, I knew he was the right person to help us do some very special things in our program."

The average age of the coaching staff is 32.1 years old, easily making it one of the youngest college staffs in the country, if not the youngest.

Next up is the recruiting cycle, plus the addition of a strength and conditioning coach. The Mocs currently have nine high school players committed, along with Mississippi State quarterback transfer Nick Tiano.

Former Knoxville Bearden standout Dakota Davis, who committed to UTC last week, already has enrolled in school and will take part in spring practice.

National signing day is Feb. 1.
