Academics

- Lee University had eight of its fall-sports athletes on the Gulf South Conference FireSeeds all-academic teams for the 2016 fall semester, including women's soccer All-American Kinsey Cinchowitz and first-team All-GSC and All-South cross country runners Amy Carpenter and Seth Eagleson for the second year in a row. The first requirement for selection is a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale; beyond that, GSC sports information directors and faculty athletic representatives vote on the candidates with team and leadership/service contributions considered. There were 74 all-academic selections for the league, including 28 in football, which Lee does not have. Cinchowitz is a senior with a 4.0 GPA, Carpenter a sophomore with a 3.90 and Eagleson a junior with a 3.61. Other Flames and Lady Flames chosen were soccer players McKenzie Bricker (3.85), Jake Brown (3.72) and Jose Orellana (3.71) and runners Brandon Raleigh (3.91) and Audrey Smith (3.68). Lee had 65 athletes on the fall GSC honor roll for 3.0 minimum GPAs, the most of any non-football league member.
