The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team will host Austin Peay at 6 tonight and Belmont at noon Sunday, both at McCallie School's indoor Strang-Voges facility. UTC is 0-2 this semester after losses at Middle Tennessee State and ninth-ranked North Carolina, and Austin Peay is 0-3 with one of the defeats at Tennessee. The Governors trail the Mocs 17-5 in the series but won five consecutive meetings before falling 4-3 to UTC last year in Clarksville. Against Belmont (2-1), UTC is 6-5 all-time but has lost the last three. "We are looking forward to our home openers this weekend," veteran UTC coach Carlos Garcia said in a school release. "Playing at the McCallie School with the support of the home crowd is going to be a huge motivation for our team."

- Fourteen UTC women's track athletes will be competing Sunday in the UNCG Dual Meet Madness at Greensboro, N.C. Mercedes Bright is entered in the 60- and 200-meter dashes. The 200 also will include UTC teammates Taylor Sawyer and Kelsey Henry, and four Mocs are entered in each of two races: Nichole Buerhle, Julia Henderson, Haley Morris and Abby Bateman in the 800 and Anna Kate Chance, Hannah Caldwell, Rebekah Wich and Brianna Nelson in the 3000. Maddie Christian will compete in the 400, and Kennedy Thomson, a winner last week at Birmingham, and Sydney Gilliam are set for the 1 mile.

Softball

- Corner infielder Julia Fish is the latest northwest Georgia high school and ProStar Fastpitch player to decide to continue her softball career at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Ga., where former Tennessee Temple University coaches Randy Crawford and Nate Tompkins run the program. Fish, a Coahulla Creek junior who began her high school career at Northwest Whitfield, committed after visiting BPC on Thursday. "I felt very comfortable on my visit and workout at Brewton-Parker College," she said in a ProStar release. "I loved the way the girls and coaches interacted with each other, and it was obvious the amount of money that is being spent to upgrade the facilities. This is the third college visit that I have been on, and it is the first time that I felt at home." She noted also that she liked the relatively small class sizes and the fact she will be joining at least four ProStar teammates there. "I am extremely proud of Julia and the amount of time she has put in to reach the goal of a college scholarship," ProStar CEO Steve Chattin said. "She came to us as a catcher but has transitioned nicely into a corner infielder who can play outfield if needed. She will be a strong doubles/home run hitter for Brewton-Parker."
