Alabama running back transferring

Alabama's very crowded situation at running back is now slightly less crowded.

Sophomore B.J. Emmons, who rushed 35 times for 173 yards in seven games last season, has decided to transfer. Al.com was the first to announce the departure of the 6-foot, 220-pounder from Morganton, N.C.

Emmons was the nation's No. 2 running back and No. 36 prospect overall in the 2016 signing class, according to 247Sports.com. His best games for the Crimson Tide occurred in routs of Western Kentucky, when he rushed six times for 41 yards, and Kent State, when he had eight carries for 51 yards.

Before last November's trip to LSU, Emmons suffered a season-ending foot injury in practice that limited him this spring.

Alabama returns Damien Harris, Bo Scarbrough and Josh Jacobs, who combined last season for 2,416 rushing yards and an average of 6.8 yards per carry. The Crimson Tide signed five-star tailback Najee Harris this past winter.

Al.com also reported that sophomore cornerback Aaron Robinson has decided to transfer as well. Robinson was a three-star prospect in the 2016 class and played in 13 games last season, totaling five tackles and one tackle for loss.

Robinson worked as a backup cornerback this spring.
