Softball

* Ashley Rogers of Meigs County and Kaili Phillips of Silverdale Baptist Academy followed through as committed and were part of Tennessee's nationally second-ranked, six-player softball signing class announced Thursday. "Every player is versatile and can do multiple things to help our team win. This is definitely one of the deepest classes we've recruited in terms of talent and softball IQ," Tennessee co-head coaches Ralph and Karen Weekly said in a school release. Specifically about Rogers, they said, "We are so excited that one of the top pitchers in the nation is a young lady who lives an hour from campus and grew up dreaming of being a Lady Vol. Ashley has all the traits of a great pitcher - velocity, movement, change of speeds, composure and presence. She has proven herself in pressure situations and won championships. Her hitting ability is an added bonus." Of Phillips they said, "We don't know if we have ever seen a player who competes with more passion and intensity than Kaili. We can't wait to see that energy in orange on our field every day. Her skill set allows her to play infield corner, outfield or catch, and she runs incredibly well. She loves to hit and has the potential to hit it out every at-bat."
