Georgia's surge to a stellar 2018 football signing class continued Thursday night when the Bulldogs received an in-state commitment from Adam Anderson of Rome High School.

Anderson is rated by 247Sports.com as the nation's No. 2 outside linebacker and the No. 44 prospect overall. The 6-foot-4, 214-pounder picked the Bulldogs over Alabama and also considered Auburn, Clemson, LSU and Tennessee.

The Bulldogs vaulted from 12th to sixth in the 247Sports team rankings behind Ohio State, Texas, Miami, Penn State and Oregon. Georgia now has the top class among Southeastern Conference schools, one spot ahead of Tennessee.

Georgia's class was ranked No. 60 nationally in July.

"You judge things by signing day, and I would tell everyone to relax and breathe," Kirby Smart said in July during SEC media days. "We've got tough decisions to make because we've got a limited number of scholarships, and in that case we may not have the same impact because of the sheer numbers. I'm not concerned with where we are, because I'm talking to these kids every day and I'm communicating with them each day, so I feel good about it."

Georgia has commitments from the nation's No. 1 quarterback, Justin Fields of Kennesaw, Ga., and the nation's No. 1 running back, Zamir White of Laurinburg, N.C. Smart was in Kennesaw on Thursday night to watch Fields and Harrison High take on Dalton in a game televised by ESPN2.
