Generals run wild in 63-30 win over Sewanee

Washington & Lee ran for 554 yards and nine touchdowns in a 63-30 defeat of visiting Sewanee in NCAA Division III football Saturday at Lexington, Va.

The host Generals got three touchdowns each from Walker Brand and Josh Breece in steamrolling the Tigers. The score was 35-6 at halftime and 56-9 late in the third quarter, Sewanee (1-1) having field goals of 44, 20 and 42 yards from Michael Jacobs.

Sewanee posted three of the last four scores, Allan Puri catching touchdown passes from Sam Hearn and Alex Darras for 15 and 3 yards and Darras connecting with Colin May for another 3-yarder.

Darras was 13-for-26 for 215 yards and Hearn was 9-of-19 for 158, each with two interceptions. Puri totaled six receptions for 127 yards, including a 61-yard play, with May adding four receptions for 61 yards.
