Cristina Perez shot an even-par 72 and Megan Woods and Holly Morgan had 73s Saturday as the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team had another solid round, 293, in the Mason Rudolph Championships at the Vanderbilt Legends North Course in Franklin, Tenn. Those three are tied for 37th individually at 145, and Monica San Juan added a 75 and is at 9 over par for 36 holes, one shot behind Mocs teammate Maddy McDaniel. UTC is 12th at 585 in the strong field, three shots behind 10th-place North Carolina, one behind Houston and six ahead of Central Florida. Middle Tennessee is 14th at 595 with Jenna Burris from Manchester tied for 47th at 147. Arkansas is the team leader at 550.

Soccer

-UTC soccer coach Gavin McKinney will be the guest speaker for the Chattanooga Quarterback's noon luncheon meeting Monday, and it will be back at the Stadium Club at Finley Stadium. The public is invited. Attendance costs $12 with a meal, $4 without.

-Bryan College swept visiting St. Andrews in an Appalachian Athletic Conference soccer doubleheader Saturday, 9-0 in the women's game and 5-1 in the men's. Makena Giles netted three goals and Mya Patel added two for the Lady Lions (3-2, 1-0), while Ruth Rosales had the first goal and three assists and Johanna Rappe also had three assists. Polly Holt had a goal and the first assist, Sara Farlett and Anna Sanders also scored and MaryMai Berchtold had two assists. For the Lions (5-3, 1-0), who did all their scoring in the last 30 minutes - the last four goals in the final 6:23 - Jonathan Ricketts and Dino Jones scored from double-assists involving Kevin Roenpage and Brad Spooner, and Charlie Clarke netted the last three. Jones, Keith Lyons and Ricketts had assists.

-The Covenant women blanked Oglethorpe 4-0 before the Covenant men lost 4-3 to Methodist in a soccer doubleheader on Lookout Mountain. Molly Kate McClearn, Lizzy Hightower, Addy Cronan and Lizzie Bird scored for the Lady Scots (4-1), and Cronan, Callie Bader, McClearn and Abby Gienapp had assists. For the Scots (2-5, 0-2 USAS), who got off two shots in the box in the final 15 seconds, Josh Brower, Jesse Riggs and Parker Owen (from a Jonathan Barrett assist) scored tying goals, but Conor Morris' second score for Methodist (4-2-1, 2-0) at 81:18 was the difference.

-Dayla LaRocque scored and assisted on a Walker Poe goal in the first 18 minutes and Elizabeth McKnight added two second-half goals (one assisted by Mary Frank) as the Sewanee women (2-3-1) beat visiting Agnes Scott 4-1, but the Sewanee men's scheduled game against Fisk was postponed.

-Tennessee Wesleyan's women won their AAC opener 2-1 at Columbia (S.C.) College, as Nicole Broderick and Jessica Young scored after the Koalas took the lead just 66 seconds into the game. TWU (2-2) had an 18-7 margin in shots.

Running

-UTC finished second to Mississippi State in both Division I cross country races Saturday in the Falcon Classic at Montevallok Ala., and Covenant's men were fourth with the Lady Scots eighth in the other divisions. John Payne led the UTC men with a third-place 26:18.44 in the DI 8-kilometer race, and Ryan Geberlein (26:38.96) was fourth with Nathan Watson sixth, Jake Ethridge 10th and Brennan Huber 11th. UTC's Emily Poole was fourth behind three MSU runners in the 6k at 22:53.09, and teammates Kennedy Thomson, Hannah Caldwell and Sophia Neglia were 11th, 13th and 14th. Covenant led all Division III men's teams with Caleb Aikens and Matthew Tueller 23rd and 25th among non-DI individuals, and the Lady Scots' Michelann Settle and Lilly Smith were 17th and 19th.

-The Lee University women's cross country team finished fourth out of 15 teams and the Lee men were sixth out of 15 in the Stegemoller Classic pre-nationals meet Saturday in Evansville, Ind. The Flames' Christian Noble was seventh individually in 24:50.5 in the 8k race, and teammates Seth Eagleson, Caleb Eagleson and Harold Smith were 20th, 31st and 35th. Edwin Kurgat from Division I school UT-Martin was first in 23:59.1. Lee's Emily Buwalda was 10th in the 5k in 18:27.2, and Audrey Smith, Amy Carpenter and Becca Umbarger were 15th, 20th and 22nd. Charlee Boxall was 37th.

Tennis

-The 2017 Icy Hot Southern Cup team tennis tournament for the 14-, 16- and 18-under age groups will conclude this morning at the Champions Club and Baylor School with doubles play. In groupings determined with Friday's competition, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina are in the gold division; Tennessee, Alabama and Louisiana in the silver division; and Arkansas, Mississippi and Kentucky in the bronze. The teams played singles Saturday. One local player, Matt Barnett, is on Team Tennessee in boys' 16s.
