Georgia offensive lineman Pat Allen, who made his one career start last September against Appalachian State, announced Tuesday he is transferring.

Georgia redshirt junior offensive lineman Pat Allen will transfer, he announced Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4, 305-pounder from Reisterstown, Md., played in six games last season and started at left guard in the opener against Appalachian State. Allen did not play after the 42-13 thumping of Kentucky, which was Georgia's 11th of 15 games.

"After careful consideration and careful talks with my family and my coaches, it's with pain in my heart that I inform you all and Dawg Nation that I will be transferring and opening my recruitment from the University of Georgia," Allen posted on his private Twitter account.

The Athens-Banner Herald was the first to report Allen's comments.

Allen was a four-star prospect in the 2015 signing class according to ESPN, Rivals.com and Scout.com. He redshirted that year and played in two games during the 2016 season, including the 31-23 win over TCU in the Liberty Bowl.
