UTC announces plan for fan council

In an attempt to help improve engagement between the Chattanooga community and members of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sports teams, UTC vice chancellor and athletic director Mark Wharton has announced the creation of the Chattanooga Mocs Fan Council.

He is looking for volunteers to serve on the 12-person committee for two-year terms, with the goal of providing feedback and guidance in the areas of external operations related to the fan experience and potential game-day enhancements.

"We are looking for people who want to get involved with the process of how we market our programs and interact with fans," Wharton said. "The first thing I learned when I arrived in Chattanooga is there are a lot of people who are passionate about the Mocs. This is a great opportunity to harness that passion and get more input on how our operations reach our target audiences."

The council will comprise students, staff, alumni, donors, ticket holders and community members in hopes of allowing varying perspectives to be represented. During the meetings, the fan council will be provided with current marketing plans, budget information and a behind-the-scenes look at the overall department. Members will be asked to provide opinions and feedback as to how UTC athletics can continue to grow and achieve maximum success across various areas of focus.

To be considered, fill out the fan council questionnaire on GoMocs.com by June 1.
