Abby Bertram led the Lee University women's basketball team to a 66-45 Gulf South Conference home win Thursday evening against Valdosta State with 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists. She was 5-of-9 on 3-point shots. VSU won the men's game 93-82 in overtime by scoring the last seven points in regulation and the first six (all by Clay Guillozet) in extra time. Beau Justice scored 29 points and Guillozet had 24 points and five steals. Lee got 19 points from Colton Blevins, 15 from Ryan Montgomery and 11 plus six assists and four steals from Parker Suedekum. Also for the Lady Flames, Lindsey Roddy and Erin Walsh had 18 and nine points and three steals apiece.

» Dalton State lost 76-74 in NAIA Division I men's basketball Tuesday afternoon at Coastal Georgia. That dropped the 13th-ranked Roadrunners to 10-4. Haylen Washington had 27 points and 12 rebounds for Coastal (10-5). For Dalton State, which trailed by 23 points, Carnilious Simmons and Sean Chisolm had 19 and 17 points and eight and 10 rebounds, Reed Dungan scored 16 points and Raheem England grabbed nine rebounds.

» The Bryan College women resumed their Appalachian Athletic Conference schedule by pulling away for a 75-61 win at Milligan, but Milligan won the men's game 78-75 on Daxton Bostian's 3-pointer with seven seconds to go. Bryan's Lady Lions (10-5, 7-2) were led by Karli Combs with four 3s and 16 points and Deandra Luna with 13 points, seven assists and three steals. Keneisha Love and Shayla Ludy scored 11 points each with 10 and seven rebounds. Oteriah Lee and Reagan Johnson scored 27 and 24 points in defeat for the Lions, who got 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots from E.J. Bush.

» Reinhardt edged the visiting Tennessee Wesleyan women 55-49 in an AAC doubleheader. Jaleya Mosley had 12 points, seven assists and seven rebounds, Bria White 11 points and seven rebounds and Heritage High graduate Jada Hubbard a team-high eight rebounds for Reinhardt (11-5, 7-2). Madison Walkup had nine rebounds with nine points for TWU (9-4, 8-2), which got 13 points from Hannah Cherry, 12 plus five assists from Hunter Simpson and 10 points from Hannah Troutt. Cherry was 6-of-9 from the field. Reinhardt also won the men's game, 96-90, as Melvin Irvin had 25 points and eight rebounds. Kenny Dean had 21 and seven and Andre AppleWhite 14 and 10 for TWU, which got another 14 points with five assists from Jalen Oliver.

» Sue Kim's triple-double of 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists led the Sewanee women to an 81-55 nonconference home win over Wesleyan (Ga.). She also had six steals and was 4-for-7 on 3s. Allison Hitchcock and Hannah McCormack scored 19 and 17 points and Bella Taylor added 10 for the Tigers (4-6), who scored 36 points off 27 Wesleyan turnovers.

» Despite 20 points by Bekah Walter and 15 rebounds and three steals by Joanna Smith, the Covenant women lost 65-49 in their USA South game Tuesday at Maryville. Kaley Hallmark added 13 points with three 3s for Covenant (5-6, 1-1). Rachel Hawn and Lauren Biliter scored 16 each for Maryville (7-6, 3-0), Hawn with nine rebounds.

» Chattanoogan Juliette Harp of Huntingdon College was the USA South women's basketball player of the week for two impressive double-doubles this past weekend. The 6-foot-2 senior who came to Huntingdon from nearby Brewbaker Technical Magnet High School in Montgomery, Ala., had 23 points and 19 rebounds in a 71-48 win over Methodist and 18 points and 14 rebounds in a 62-57 losss to Greensboro. The daughter of Jeff and Mary Harp is the Lady Hawks' NCAA-era career leader in blocked shots (1838), rebounds per game and field-goal percentage and is averaging 18.1 points, 15.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks this season, with 11 double-doubles in 12 games. She was first-team All-USA South last season and second-team the year before and was Huntingdon's female student-athlete of the year as a sophomore and a junior.
