Torrez Finney came to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with thoughts of walking on the wrestling team.

It took a couple of years, but he's finally getting that chance.

Finney, who has played linebacker and fullback on the football team the past two seasons, has been added to the wrestling roster and could get some action this weekend as Heath Eslinger's Mocs compete in the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va.

The Mocs lack depth at heavyweight after an injury to junior Connor Tolley, which has left sophomore Ben Stacey - a natural 197-pounder - as the only option at the 285-pound weight class. Finney was a two-time Georgia Class AAAAA champion at Jones County High School in Macon.

He's been listed as an "or" for the lineup, along with Stacey.

The Mocs (3-3) wrestle at 9 a.m. today against Kent State and at 1 p.m. against 11th-ranked Northern Iowa. They'll be in the Poguoson River bracket. The overall field includes ninth-ranked Virginia Tech, 10th-ranked Arizona State and No. 20 Lock Haven in addition to Bucknell, Campbell, Fresno State, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Old Dominion and Virginia.

Teams will be placed in either the gold, silver or bronze brackets Saturday based on today's outcomes. There will be two matches for each on Saturday.

Michael Pongracz (141), Roman Boylen (149), Chad Pyke (165), Justin Lampe (174), Bryce Carr (184) and Scottie Boykin (197) are locked in for UTC. Three other positions besides 285 are either/ors: Alonzo Allen or Fabian Gutierrez at 125, Chris Debien or Jake Huffine at 133 and Dylan Forzani or Jake Adcock at 157.
