Mocs wrestlers now 3-0 in SoCon

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team improved to 6-6 overall and remained unblemished in the Southern Conference with a sound 38-6 win over The Citadel on Sunday at McAlister Fieldhouse in Charleston, S.C.

The Mocs have two weeks before their next dual, at home against fellow league unbeaten Appalachian State (5-3) - both UTC and the Mountaineers are 3-0 in the SoCon. The Feb. 4 match at Maclellan Gymnasium will start at 2 p.m.

The Mocs won eight of 10 matches Sunday against the Bulldogs, dominating in most. At 133 pounds, Chris Debien earned his second straight first-period pin, beating Nicholas Long in 57 seconds. Alonzo Allen (125) earned near-fall points three times before defeating William Jacobs by technical fall less than two minutes into the first period.

Chad Pyke (165), Justin Lampe (174) and Bryce Carr (184) had first-period pins, while Michael Pongracz (141), Dylan Forzani (157) and Scottie Boykin (197) won by decision.
