Former East Carolina quarterback Gardner Minshew has committed to Alabama for his final season of college football.

Minshew, who visited Tuscaloosa last weekend, played in 17 games the past two years for the Pirates after guiding Northwest Mississippi Community College to the 2015 NJCAA championship. AL.com reported Wednesday that the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder from Brandon, Miss., is expected to enroll in May.

His arrival would be after Alabama's spring practice, when Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones will compete at the position.

Minshew played in 10 games last season for East Carolina, completing 174 of 304 passes (57.2 percent) for 2,140 yards with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
