UTC men's golf team back on the course

Lake Johnson's par round of 72 led the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's golf team as the Mocs opened their spring schedule Sunday at Auburn's Tiger Invitational.

Johnson, a junior, was tied for 16th after four birdies and as many bogeys on the Lake Course at Grand National in Opelika, Ala. Kennesaw State's Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero led with a 66, and Maryland's David Kocher was a stroke back.

Auburn led the team standings at 7-under 281, three strokes ahead of Kennesaw State, with the Mocs tied for 14th in the 17-team field after a 302. UTC's scoring came from Will Porter (76), Etienne Brault (77) and Luke Long (77), with A.J. Lintunen (86) also competing for the Mocs.

The tournament continues today and finishes Tuesday.

UTC's women will play in the UNF Collegiate starting today in Jacksonville, Fla. They opened their spring schedule two weeks ago with a third-place finish in a tough field at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla., where junior Monica San Juan tied for second.

Seniors Cristina Perez and Megan Woods and sophomores Maddy McDaniel and Holly Morgan fill out the starting lineup for the Mocs.
