For a second consecutive football season, the Georgia Bulldogs could have a graduate transfer handling the punting chores.

Landon Stratton, Murray State's punter the past three years, has announced via social media that he will transfer to Georgia to complete his eligibility. Stratton redshirted with the Racers in 2014 before averaging 42.0 yards per punt in 2015, 41.7 in 2016 and 40.4 on 86 attempts last season.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder from Russellville, Ky., visited Athens last week.

"After a long past few months, I've never been more excited to announce that I will be continuing my football and academic career at the University of Georgia," Stratton posted on his Facebook account. "I'm so thankful for all the love from my family, friends and coaches during this time. I'm excited for the opportunity and can't wait to get to work."

Cameron Nizialek led the Bulldogs last season, averaging a whopping 45.0 yards a punt on 61 attempts in 15 games to rank ninth nationally. He arrived in Athens as a graduate transfer from Columbia University.

Stratton will join a punting competition in preseason camp that is scheduled to include Marshall Long and Jake Camarda.

Long started as a freshman in 2016, averaging 38.7 yards a punt, but had that season cut short after nine games due to a dislocated kneecap in practice. Camarda was the nation's top-rated punter in the 2018 recruiting class, signing with the Bulldogs in December.
