Former Georgia offensive lineman Chris Barnes says he's transferring to UTC.

Former Georgia lineman Chris Barnes announced this weekend that he intends to transfer to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football program. He has three seasons of college eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-3, 288-pound Barnes was a consensus three-star prospect out of high school and a four-star prospect according to ESPN. He redshirted his first year at Georgia, then played in one game in 2017.

He played on the offensive line but according to DawgNation.com was seen working on the defensive line during this year's spring practice.

Whichever side of the ball he ends up on for UTC, he should fill a need. The Mocs currently have five defensive linemen on the roster, including seniors Isaiah Mack and Derek Mahaffey, and have four new players coming in.

The offensive line returns four starters and added Mississippi State transfer Harrison Moon but has struggled some with depth. The Mocs signed two offensive linemen for 2018: Dylan Cole from Dalton and Zach Fox.

Bryant picks Tyler

Former UTC basketball guard Jonathan Bryant will transfer to Tyler Junior College in Texas, according to multiple reports.

Bryant played in 24 games as a freshman, averaging nine minutes per game. He averaged 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per game, shooting 38 percent from the floor.

He joins a Tyler program that finished 26-7 in 2017-18. There were eight sophomores on the team, six of whom are continuing their careers at NCAA Division I schools.

Bryant was one of six players who chose to transfer from UTC after its 10-23 season. The Mocs coaches have signed six players, and three others will make their debuts this season. Only sophomore David Jean-Baptiste and redshirt freshman Duane Moss, who appeared in seven games before a season-ending injury, played for UTC last season.
