As anticipated, South Carolina Gamecocks linebacker Zay Brown is another NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision player to transfer to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he will have three years of eligibility. He redshirted in 2017 and got in no games in 2018 but was a first-team Georgia Class AAAAA all-state selection at Clarke Central High School in Athens as a senior in 2016, when he had 80 tackles and three interceptions and became a three-star college prospect. "Zay is another one that I knew about as a high school recruit," UTC coach Rusty Wright said in a Thursday release. "Like all of the guys we have added over the last few weeks, he helps fit a need and will be an immediate factor on the football field."

» Covenant College has announced the hiring of Jon Gin as the full-time assistant for women's basketball coach Skylar Bareford. Gin was an assistant coach the past three years at NCAA Division II member Gannon University, which won 31 conference games in that time. Recruiting and defensive instruction were his main priorities. He began his career at North Florida, his alma mater, and later assisted at Trevecca Nazarene (2013-15) and Moravian Prep Academy (2015-16). Trevecca went 36-19 overall and 28-4 in conference play while he was there getting a master's degree. "We are so excited to have Jon join our program," Bareford said in a Covenant release. "He brings a wealth of coaching experience at the collegiate level, and it was clear throughout the search process that Jon would help us in every area moving forward. Jon has a great heart, contagious energy and a selfless attitude. I am excited to work with him to continue building a Christ-centered and service-oriented program together." Said Gin: "I just want to thank God for giving me this incredible opportunity. When I first came to the mountaintop, I knew Covenant College was a special place. ... I'm excited for a coaching role that combines my passion for basketball with my passion for God."
