Gang, huge week.

Thanks. Be safe of the Fourth.

Please include this one since the details in today's article was very vague to say the least.
What was the deal with St. Payton of Knoxville visiting the base camp of the Power C? Was he there to do an actual workout or photo op? Also, did he even recognize there was in fact another Tennessee team that doesn't play in Knoxville? Now if he actually has respect for the blue and gold, a very generous portion of grief I have for this guy I guarantee will instantly fall by the way side.
I'll make simple, if this happened; Inner Payton: Man, those Chattanooga Mocs are kicking butt big time, I'll think I'll go over and show my respect and offer to clinic Jacob Huesman and next-gen kid Bingo Morton.
I will develop some SERIOUS respect points if it went something like that.

JMC -

First, this was the farthest thing from a photo op and Manning worked out with the Mocs on Wednesday and Thursday.

Manning has a lake house and is a member at The Honors. Dude drops in a lot of places around ton - D1 a lot and occasionally at various high schools to work out - and even shot the famous seven-syllabal Nationwide commercial last summer.

We had Jacob on Press Row on Thursday to discuss how this happened. Manning is part owner of D1 and Jacob has trained there in the past. Someone from D1 called Jacob and said Manning wanted to throw and work out so could Jacob assemble some Mocs.

Can you image how cool that would be?

You're heading into your senior season and arguably the greatest quarterback ever reaches out to throw some passes on a random summer day.

Huesman was overflowing in his praise for Manning, who offered tips and was the model of preparation.

"His attention to detail is incredible," Huesman said Thursday.

Huesman said that word kind of spread and it was kind of difficult to keep it under wraps.

You may dislike the Big Orange and their fan base, and you can lob grenades at Manning's postseason record.

But Manning is a complete and total class act.

JG, for the mailbag, what do you think about the new dating site for Univ of Kentucky fans?

MT -

We've seen a lot of the jokes about this: Shrinking gene pool; if relatives date can they share an email; who's going to show a UK fan how to get online; etc.

In theory, giving people a common starting point is a fine way for folks to meet. And we all know there are some serious fan bases that those people's fandom needs to be discussed before long-term relations can be even thought about. UK hoops certainly applies.

But the bigger issue here is how long before we get to a place that we'll never have to leave the house and never have to actually interface with others for just about anything other than procreating?

Man, how many times have you seen a group of teenagers standing around and all of them face down in their phones? They very well could be texting each other 3 feet away.

Scary.

From Ted

How you been? I've always been a Chargers fan and was stunned that Antonio Gates failed a drug test.

Who's on the Rushmore of athletes that would completely shock you that they were on PEDs?

Thanks. (and I love listening to you on Press Row. You guys are great.)

Ted -

Great question.

The all-time answer in our mind is Derek Jeter. Then for us we'd go Greg Maddux, Tony Gwynn and Michael Jordan

Of the current athletes, our Rushmore of PED shockers would be Peyton, Stephen Curry, Tim Duncan and Jordan Spieth.

From Stewwie -

Jay, for the bag, can you do a roundup of your own Rushmores from this week?

Stewwie -

Thanks for keeping us straight. We can do a better job of circling back.

Thursday: Rushmore of biggest in-game sports mistakes? (Stakes matter big time here.) Bill Buckner. Georgetown's Fred Brown throwing the ball to UNC's James Worthy in the '82 NCAA title game. Jean Van De Velde's implosion on the 72nd hole of the 1999 British Open. Roberto De Vicenzo signing an incorrect scorecard that cost him the 1968 Masters. Ouch. (If Van De Velde's mistake was too prolonged we'll put Bassett's own goal right there.)

Side question: Would Steve Bartman's interference count even though he was a fan and not a player?

Wednesday: What's our Rushmore of most All-American movies? We'll go Patton, Rocky IV, Saving Private Ryan and The Patriot.

Tuesday: First half of the year honors. Male athlete of the year is Jordan Spieth. Female athlete of the year is Serena Williams. Story of the year so far is DelfateGate (sadly).

Monday: We also want your Rushmore of modern technological advancements. iPhone (cell phones of all ilk); iPad and all tablets (and this is a total game-changer for media companies); the TV remote control; the microwave oven (huge back in the day).

From Chas

Reports say that at one minute past midnight The Unibrow agreed to earn $145 M in five years, so he's #1. Friday bag: Is he the best? And how many jerseys does he sell?

photo FILE - In this Wednesday, May 13, 2015, file photo, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry reacts after scoring during the first half of Game 5 in a second-round NBA playoff basketball series against the Memphis Grizzlies in Oakland, Calif. Curry has surpassed the Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James for the most popular jersey in the NBA. (AP Photo/Ben Margot, File)

When we try to rank current players on "who's the best" e like to pretend if GM A called GM B who would say no. With that as out baseline, here's the order on best.

  1. 1. LeBron James. Nothing could get the Cavs to deal LeBron. He's the best in the league but the end of the road of him holding the crown is closing.
  2. 2. Anthony Davis. If you doubt this, if the Warriors called and said we'll give you Steph for AD, the Pelicans would laugh and say, "And what else you offering?"
  3. 3. Steph Curry. Maybe this is a touch high, but to the victor goes the spoils. Dude has a title.
  4. 4. Kevin Durant. And the crazy thing is the Thunder may be wondering if he's even the best player on their team.
  5. 5. Russell Westbrook. Athletically unbelievable, and with each passing day we're more and more certain he and KD are not going to be able to co-exist in OKC.
