As we are prone to do on holidays and from vacation, the 5-at-10 takes on a much shorter form during those times.

Here's a list of five quick things -- four we found to be somewhat memorable on this Memorial Day, and one that asks our regular question -- for everyone.

Thanks for playing along and a special thanks to all of those who make the ultimate sacrifice to protect this great nation.

Couple of programming notes. There will be no Press Row today. So there's that. We will also have a who won and lost the weekend version of the 5-at-10 on Tuesday.

From the "Talks too much" studios, let's play the feud.

What's better than perfect? This high school softball pitcher who threw a perfect perfect game. She faced 21; she fanned 21.

Speaking strike outs. how about this minor leaguer? The pitcher slips, the ball comes rolling on the grass, and the hitter thinks it will be cute to swing and miss. Apparently the ump does not do cute. Swing and miss, strike three.

The most meaningful sporting event in Nashville history starts tonight as the Predators try to bring a Stanley Cup to Tennessee. Yes, re-reading that sentence still does not make it seem any less surreal. Game 1 is tonight in Pittsburgh. Game 3 comes to Nashville on Saturday, with tickets starting online at $1,034 dollars. (Tickets for Game 1 can be found online for $234.)

Austin Dillon took the 3 car to victory lane on Sunday in Charlotte. It was a poignant visions for a lot of us who used to pull for Dale Sr. back when NASCAR was fun. In a bigger picture way, there may not be a single more important competitor to their sport moving forward than Dillon, all things considered.

Memorial Day

Really enjoyed TFP ace sports columnists Mark Wiedmer's Memorial Day column.

Also thought this gesture by Tom Brady speaking at the funeral of a Navy SEAL was worth noting.

With that, on this Memorial Day, let's do the Rushmore of all-time athletes that served in the military.

Go, and thanks to all.
