Twosomes play slowly in third round of Classic

Chattanooga Classic leader Joe Affrunti said he and Ryan Armour had to wait to take every shot they made once they finished the eighth hole.

Their round took about 4 hours and 30 minutes despite the entire field playing in twosomes with the last 12 groups having 10 minutes between each tee time.

"It should never take that long in twosomes," Affrunti said. "The early rounds are getting done in three hours, so why can't the later rounds get done in three hours?"

When Affrunti walked to the 15th tee, there was another group waiting to hit as well, and he said that was the first time Saturday he looked at the leaderboard.

"There's nothing to do but stare at the leaderboard," Affrunti said. "It's kind of fun to see how some of the guys are doing. I had a good pairing with Ryan, so we could talk a bit."

Scratch Golf speed golf

Scratch Golf vice president of sales Matt O'Brien had to get to work early Saturday.

But he didn't go to the office on Broad Street. He headed to Black Creek Club to caddie for Andres Gonzales, whose irons and wedges were custom-made at Scratch Golf. Gonzales played as a single in the first "group" off at 8:18 a.m.

"It was weird playing by ourselves," O'Brien said, noting it took Gonzales about 2 hours, 15 minutes to play the 18 holes. "It was just us and a walking scorer."

Eagle boosts Bulldog

Former University of Georgia golfer Kevin Kisner holed out from 40 yards away on the par-4 10th for one of two eagles there all week.

The perfect chip helped him shoot 8 under par Saturday and jump into a tie for 11th at 11 under.

"It was the most beautiful shot I've ever seen," said Kisner, who graduated from UGA in 2006. "It landed right where I was looking and trickled down and went in on the last rotation."

List has highs, lows

Former Baylor School golfer Luke List had a roller-coaster sort of day at Black Creek.

He made seven birdies, seven pars, three bogeys and a double-bogey (No. 2). The net result was a 2-under 70, which put him at 7-under 209 for the tournament.

List is tied for 33rd place and will begin his final round at 10:20 with Chad Ginn.
