Will Healy is a fine golfer and can threaten par on almost any course he's played before.

But he's not quite as polished as his good friend Bryce Ledford. Ledford is a professional trying to reach the PGA Tour after playing for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where Healy works.

Ledford gave Healy a taste of what it's like to be inside the ropes of a Web.com Tour event last week when he asked Healy to caddie for him at the South Georgia Classic.

"It was really cool and a lot of fun," Healy said. "I was tired after it was over."

Healy's responsibilities were based around the three principles of being a caddie: Show up; keep up; shut up. But the friends relaxed those rules and enjoyed the four-day tournament.

"He did awesome," Ledford said. "Something about his hamstring, and he had a little limp out there, but he did a good job."

Additional duties included cleaning clubs, raking bunkers, helping find errant shots and keeping Ledford relaxed.

"I tried to keep him calm and having fun and enjoying the moment," Healy said. "Bryce and I are good friends, and when we play together he reads my putts for me. So when it came to reading greens or judging wind or distance, Bryce knew what to do."

Ledford made the cut by one stroke after sinking what Healy described as a 75-foot putt on the last hole Friday afternoon. After making his first cut on the Web.com Tour, Ledford finished tied for 61st and earned a $1,885 check. Healy may get a little slice of that.

"We're still negotiating," Healy joked. "If he asks me to do it again, I will if it works with my football schedule. But I do not see myself as a full-time caddie."
