Publinks for Nob North

Nob North Golf Club at Cohutta will be the site of the 2014 Georgia State Golf Association Amateur Public Links championship Sept. 13-14.

The field will consist of 144 Georgia residents who do not belong to a private club in the state.

"We've been working on them for a while, and they came up here, looked at the course and they liked it," Nob North head professional Eric Hester said. "We've spent three years working on this, and we're very excited to host a GSGA championship.

"It's probably their third biggest tournament behind the state amateur and the state mid-am."

Earth Day at Trace

The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay, a golf course leading the way in ecological conservation, will hold a ceremony Tuesday to celebrate its success. Officials from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, the USGA, the University of Tennessee and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America will attend.
