Luke List and Stephan Jaeger, both former Baylor School golfers, made huge jumps up the Web.com Tour standings with their play in Mexico this past weekend.

List, with a tie for sixth place, jumped to No. 21 on the 2015 money list. Jaeger, who finished in a tie for fourth, jumped to No. 53.

"I've got high standards for this year," List said from his home in Southern California. "What I was doing in the offseason is starting to show some results. I still have work to do to get to where I want to be. The more I can get in contention, the more I feel I can get back to the winner's circle."

Their rise is important because the top 25 at the end of the year earn status on the PGA Tour. Both are essentially guaranteed a spot in any 2015 Web.com Tour event in which they'd like to participate.

"A quarter of the season in, I've put myself in good position," said List, who turned 30 earlier this year. "I need to clean up a few mistakes, and for the first time in a bit, I feel that I can win."

List and Jaeger played a practice round together in South America, and they routinely remark about the success of Baylor golfers on pro tours -- also including Harris English and Brooke Pancake.

"It's great for Baylor, it's great for Chattanooga, great for UTC and I know Stephan has a lot of game," List said. "I think he's off to a good start. He's probably going to get up there in the winner's circle."

DSC duo honored

Sean Elliott and Caroline Griffin of Dalton State were the Southern States Athletic Conference golfers of the week after both were medalists in the SSAC tournaments. Elliott led DSC to the men's title with a 10-under-par 200 for 54 holes. His season scoring average of 71.08 ranks second in the NAIA. Griffin, also the SSAC freshman of the year, won the 36-hole women's event with an even-par 144.

Cleveland Invitational

Applications for the Cleveland Invitational on May 2-3 are available at Cleveland Country Club and www.IfYouLikeGolf.com. The $135 entry fee includes two competitive rounds, a practice round and lunch both days. The Cleveland Invitational kicks off the 2015 Chattanooga TPC series of events and awards points for the end-of-year championship tournament.

Signal Invitational

Applications for the 79th Signal Mountain Invitational are available at Signal Mountain Golf & Country Club. The SMI is set for May 15-17 and is one of few Chattanooga-area tournaments that award World Amateur Golf rankings points as well as Scratch Player world amateur ranking points. It will continue a trend of having a senior division for those who are eligible and prefer to play from more forward tees.
