The McCallie golf team is undefeated against everybody except Baylor.

The Red Raiders beat McCallie for a third time this season by winning the annual match-play competition 9-3 Thursday at Lookout Mountain Golf Club.

"Any win in this series is a good win," Baylor coach Gary Partrick said. "Any win at Lookout is a real good win."

The Red Raiders swept all four team points available and earned singles points in five of the eight head-to-head matches.

"It feels really good to beat McCallie," said Baylor's Chase Roswall, whose prep golf eligibility expires this year. "That was my last head-to-head match of my high school career. Up next is regional and state."

Baylor has defeated McCallie in the Baylor Preview, the City Prep championship and now in their head-to-head match. The Division II East/Middle region championship is scheduled for Monday at the Bear Trace at Tims Ford. Both teams will be there.

"As you can imagine, it's a talented region where golf is important to the schools that play in it," Partrick said. "Everything through right now doesn't matter except for momentum, because it's a one-day season."

The Red Raiders had a successful Thursday afternoon. Roswall, Oliver Simonsen, Matt McKenney and A.J. Lintunen all won their singles matches.

Simonsen rallied to win 2 and 1 after losing the first three holes to Evan Spence. One simple change altered the course of his afternoon and allowed him to team with Roswall to earn a four-ball point with a 7 and 5 victory.

"We have different games and we met in the middle," Roswall said. "Ollie plays 100 miles per hour, and I like to take my time. We just switched up our order and I hit first."

Simonsen squared his match at the turn and never trailed on the back nine.

"I lost two balls in my first three holes," Simonsen said. "Whenever I play slower it helps me calm down, think and gets me centered."

McCallie earned singles points from Matthew McBrayer, Jake Allstun and Griff Jayne.

"We started out OK, and then I think we pressed a little bit," McCallie coach Rob Riddle said. "We hit a lot of good shots. They played better today.

"The good news is that the region and state tournaments aren't match play."
