Pikeville's Bob Rice wins Tennessee Senior Match Play title

Pikeville's Bob Rice won the Tennessee Senior Match Play Championship and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga golfer Lake Johnson was runner-up in the Tennessee Match Play Championship on Sunday at Bear Trace at Harrison Bay. Rice defeated Chattanooga's Richard Keene in 19 holes after earning a 21-hole win against Danny Green of Jackson in the morning semifinals, where Keene won 3 and 1 against Knoxville's Jeff Golliher. Johnson, a Chattanooga Christian School alum, beat Matt Cooper of Memphis 5 and 4 in the semifinals before falling 3 and 1 to Kingsport's William Nottingham, who is also this year's Tennessee Junior Amateur champion. Nottingham beat Knoxville's Tyler Johnson 1 up to reach the title match Sunday.

- The second Bradley Central Invitational high school golf tournament will have a shotgun start at 9 a.m. today at Cleveland Country Club. Boys' and girls' teams from Bradley Central, Cleveland, Sale Creek, Silverdale Baptist Academy and Walker Valley will participate, along with boys' teams from East Hamilton and McMinn County. East Hamilton will also have an individual in the girls' field. The tournament is a benefit for junior golf in Bradley County.
