Defending champion Mitch Hufstetler won a playoff Saturday at Moccasin Bend Golf Club for his fourth Senior Metro Amateur victory in five years, and Neil Spitalny shot a 68 for a two-day 140 and the Super Senior title. The Men's Metro regular division continues today with David Watts leading 26 finalists with his 12-under-par 132. Taylor Lewis shot 65 and was tied for second at 134 with Matt Crowder and Trent Mansfield, while Winston Brown was fifth at 135 with Sport Allmond and Gavin Roberson at 136. First-round leader Ben Rebne followed his 62 with a 75 and was tied for eighth at 137 with Hayden Hunneke, Jay Potter and Phil Spitalny. Neil Spitalny finished his win at 140, two shots clear of Mike Jenkins, with 2017 Super Senior winner Ronnie Law and Larry McGill tied for third at 143. In the Senior Metro, Scott Patton shot a 69 to Hufstetler's 73 and matched him at 140, but Hufstetler birdied No. 2 in the playoff for the win. Tim Crawford was third at 143 and had a hole-in-one on No. 3, as Shonn Weldon in the regular division also did in the tournament. Bob Rice, Richard Keene and Jim Srite shared fourth place at 145, and Pat Corey was seventh at 146.

Soccer

* Lee University announced one final addition this past week to its large men's soccer recruiting class, and he's a large recruit on his own: 6-foot-5 center back Drew Donehoo from Clarkston, Georgia, and Lady of Mercy High School. He also paced the defense for Concorde Fire club teams that won a Region 3 championship in 2016 and state and Southern Regional Premier League championships in 2017. "He is a big center back with a great skill set on and off the ball and carries the right chip on his shoulder to excel at this level," Flames coach Derek Potteiger said in a Lee web post. "He played against some of the top forwards this year in the (Fire) Development Academy, and he consistently and confidently won those battles. Drew has a bright future here at Lee."

General

* A memorial service for Dr. Mike Jones, longtime University of Tennessee at Chattanooga engineering professor and faculty athletics representative to the Southern Conference, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Red Bank Baptist Church. A reception will follow. Jones died June 28 in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 83. Jones, who also served as a volunteer assistant coach for UTC's cross country and track and field teams, was voted to the SoCon all-faculty team in 2016. The family asks that any memorial contributions, instead of flowers, go to the University of Chattanooga Foundation for its Michael Jones Annual Scholarship.
