• The Seattle Mariners promoted former Cleveland State pitcher Stephen Pryor to the Class AA Jackson (Tenn.) Generals on Thursday, and he did well for them the next night in Zebulon, N.C. Friday night for the Generals, he got five outs with two strikeouts and no baserunners despite having been on the road or in the air from 6:30 a.m. EDT until arriving at the Carolina Mudcats' stadium at 6:30 p.m. Pryor did not pitch Saturday or Sunday. He's from Mount Juliet, Tenn., so Jackson is close to home. Pryor practiced with the Double-A group in spring training but hurt his elbow and stayed behind. After a rough May in the California League with control problems, he had an excellent June and July. The Generals will play July 26-30 in Chattanooga.
