PEARL, Miss. - The Mississippi Braves held Chattanooga to two hits over the last six innings and beat the Lookouts 3-2 in Southern League baseball Monday night.
The Lookouts (32-33) ended a six-game losing streak.
The Braves took a 3-2 lead in the third inning on Ernesto Mejia's bases-clearing double to center field. The Lookouts had grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second when Kyle Russell led off with a double to right and scored on Jaime Pedroza's two-out single to center, and they made it 2-0 in the third when Brian Cavazos-Galvez's one-out single to left scored Alfredo Silverio.
Chattanooga is off today and begins a five-game series Wednesday night at 7:15 against the Tennessee Smokies in Kodak. Chris Withrow (2-5, 4.86 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Brooks Raley (3-5, 4.84) scheduled for the Smokies
