Mauney qualifies for nationals again and other sports news

MOULTRIE, Ga. - Former Baylor School diver Jordan Mauney qualified for his second event at the summer nationals with his platform performance Sunday in the USA Division National Preliminary Zone B Championships. Mauney, who is about to begin his senior year at the University of Tennessee, finished fourth with a career-best 339 points in the finals. That moved him up from sixth to earn one of the five spots available for the AT&T National Diving Championships next month in Greensboro, N.C. He also will be in the 3-meter springboard event after a sixth-place finish Saturday. "I'm very excited and really pleased with Jordan's performance all weekend long," UT diving coach Dave Parrington said. "He's really been working hard on some mechanical things we had gotten away from. The corrections have really boosted his confidence heading into next year."
