The first-year Dalton State men's basketball team still is awaiting its first loss, as coach Tony Ingle's Roadrunners won 87-85 in overtime Tuesday night at Southern Wesleyan in Central, S.C.

Ricky Sears had 16 points and eight rebounds and hit the shot that won it at the overtime buzzer, but two other Roadrunners scored more. Demetrice Jacobs had 22 points and 12 rebounds, and Preston Earle scored 20 points. Sean Tate and Anthony Hilliard each scored 14 for Dalton State. SWU's Terrance Hutchins had 28 points and five assists but fouled out.

The Roadrunners should draw an excited crowd for their first home opener as a four-year program Thursday at 7 p.m. against Hiwassee at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center.

• Tennessee Wesleyan (w) 67, Brenau 61: At Gainesville, Ga., the Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-0.

• Cleveland State 116, Bryan JV 55: At Cleveland, Keevin Tyus led seven double-figure scorers for the Cougars (2-0) with 16 points and added four steals, while Matt Whitmire scored 14 points and Robert Brandon had 13 plus 10 rebounds. Bryan Landers led the visiting Lions with 13 points.

• Cleveland State (w) 90, Georgia Northwestern 49: The Lady Cougars breezed to their second win with Aysia Grimsley scoring 13 points, Markiesha Campbell adding 12 with nine rebounds, Katrice Harris also scoring a dozen and matching Jamesha Mosley's four assists and Mosley making seven steals. The Lady Bobcats' Brecia Hall had a game-high 17 points in their season opener.
