Hamilton wins local trail half marathon and other sports news

Daniel Hamilton of Collegedale won the Still Hollow Trail Race half marathon Saturday morning at the Enterprise South Nature Park with a time of 1 hour, 29 minutes, 26 seconds. Nathan Holland was second in 1:30:31 for the 13.1 miles, followed closely by Cody Goodwin in 1:30:41, and former Lee University runner Johnny Clemons and Olaf Wasternack completed the top five in 1:31:23 and 1:35:29. Dee Goodwin was the first female and 15th overall in 1:51:01 in the Salomon Rock/Creek Trail Series event, and Meg Bernard in 29th and Susie Farmer in 37th were the next two women. The half marathon had 173 finishers. The accompanying 10-kilometer race had 129, led by Tim Tatarka in 40:10. Walt Douglas was second in 43:17, and Joey Leahy, Nathan Helton and 17-year-old Fraire Missael were third through fifth in 44:13, 44:20 and 45:17. Elizabeth Callaway was the first female and 12th overall in 50:40; Shiara Arulpragasm was 16th, Mary Wood 18th.


• The Chattanooga Quarterback Club will resume its one-hour Monday noon luncheon meetings at Finley Stadium's Stadium Club in two weeks, on Aug. 25, and continue them until April 13. University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football coach Russ Huesman will be the guest speaker for the first meeting. Attendance costs $10 with a hot meal, $4 for anyone not eating. Guests are welcome, but membership is encouraged for only $35 a year. Anyone interested should call president Doug Dyer at 265-5062.
