The Lee University soccer teams will be playing for Christian college national championships today in Kissimmee, Fla. In semifinals Friday, the second-seeded Lady Flames beat Campbellsville 3-0 and Lee's fifth-seeded men edged Shorter 2-1. That sets up NCCAA Division I finals against teams from Indiana: No. 1 seed Grace for the Lady Flames (15-4-1) and fourth seed Bethel for the Flames (11-9-2). The Lee women's program, which already owns four NAIA national titles under coach Matt Yelton, has won 11 matches in a row, 10 of those by shutout. Kinsey Cichowitz, Kathryn Healy and Meagan Newman (from a Cichowitz assist) scored the goals Friday at 20:48, 25:54 and 29:44 as the Lady Flames bombarded their Kentucky foes in the first half, 12-2 in shots and 7-1 in corner kicks. The final margins were 18-6 and 9-3, and Lee's Marbel Egwuenu have five saves. The Grace women won 3-0 as well, over Houghton. Both men's scores were 2-1. The Lee guys were outshot 19-12, but Joey Hinshaw's nine saves and goals by Quade Marinell from a Justin Furey assist at 23:30 and by David Perez from a Jonathan Finley assist at 68:56 got them to the final.
