Lee University's all-star collection of 2014 women's soccer signees - a full side of 11 - announced Wednesday include Farragut High School forward Katie Cloud, who was born in Chattanooga. Like most of the others, the daughter of Rusty and Patti Cloud was a high school and/or club team captain. Along with fellow forwards Anna Leslie from Germantown High and Morgan Sandifer from Karns among the Lee recruits, she was on the FC Alliance team that won the Disney College Showcase. "She is without a doubt the most versatile player we have coming in," Lady Flames coach Matt Yelton said of Cloud, a two-time Class AAA all-state player, "and she excels at whatever task she is given." His other signees were forwards Nicole Blanchard of Grandville, Mich., and Sarah Standley of Greenwood, Ind.; midfielders Sarah Boyd of Braselton, Ga., and Sydney Rayborn of Lakeland, Fla.; 5-foot-11 goalkeeper Erin Olson from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and defenders Suzanne Arant of Charlotte, Charlotte Soccer Academy teammate Alex Baker of Blythewood, S.C., and Sophie Pleger of Snellville, Ga., a Norcross Fury teammate of Boyd. Rayborn has started for the Lakeland Christian varsity since seventh grade. "This is a very strong group of players that we are adding to the squad," Yelton said in a Lee release, "and I believe they will lead Lee into an era of NCAA success in the years to come. ... • Miranda Smith from Soddy-Daisy High School was one of seven signees announced by King University women's soccer coach Simon Duffy for his NCAA Division II program. "Miranda is a very exciting addition to the team," Duffy said of the Lady Trojans' and Chattanooga Futbol Club standout. "Her speed, athleticism and danger in the attacking third will add an exciting dimension to our front line. We are fortunate to have landed Miranda after her gaining vast interest from around the region. ... We will look for her to make an immediate impact as a freshman."
Softball/Baseball
• Lee University will have to wait till Tuesday to play its first home softball games of the season. The Lady Flames' scheduled doubleheader today against Tennessee Wesleyan has been postponed because of the weather, so North Georgia's visit Tuesday will be Lee's first games at Butler Field. The Lady Flames (3-3) play their first Gulf South Conference games Saturday and Sunday at Union in Jackson, Tenn.
• Chattanooga State will not play softball today at Gulf Coast State in Florida but will play there Friday.The same holds true for now for Cleveland State's baseball team at Gordon State.
Basketball
• The Bryan College basketball games postponed from Wednesday evening against Montreat College have been reset for Monday in Dayton. The Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader will begin with the women's game at 5:30 p.m.
• Covenant College's USA South basketball doubleheader scheduled for this evening at Piedmont in Demorest, Ga., has been postponed until next Thursday. Game times are still 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Wrestling
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga drew North Dakota State for its opening meet in the national duals Sunday and Monday in Columbus, Ohio. The Mocs are ranked 19th in the latest NWCA poll and North Dakota State is No. 20. They are to wrestle at 1 p.m. Sunday with the winner to take on Minnesota, which just took over the No. 1 ranking following a victory over Penn State.
