Chattanooga Lookouts holding job fair Saturday and other sports news

The Chattanooga Lookouts are having their annual job fair this Saturday morning for a variety of 2014 season positions. The team hired more than 100 game-day employees at the event last year. Interviews will be conducted from 9 a.m. to noon at AT&T Field for the following positions: ticket sellers, ticket takers, ticket ushers, bat boys, picnic servers, concessions workers, suite servers, club servers, grill cooks, suite cooks, gift shop attendants and promotions work. Even the mascot job is open. Candidates must be 16 or older and provide two forms of identification; they may fill out online applications and bring them or fill applications at the job fair. "Our job fair is one of the most important events we will host all season," general manager Rich Mozingo said in a Lookouts release. "Our game-day staff interacts with our fans at every game."

Basketball

* The Lee University women's basketball team won for the 11th time in a row Thursday, 79-48 over visiting West Alabama, and the Lee men aded a 71-69 victory to complete the Gulf South Conference sweep. Hollie German made four 3-point baskets and had 26 points with five assists for the Lady Flames (18-4, 14-2), while Jenna Adams scored 19 points. Cory Billingsley hit 16 of 20 free throws and scored 24 points for the Flames (9-13, 5-11), who got 16 from Stedmon Ford and four assists from Jamal Worthington.

* Jarrett Smith had 25 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals as Tennessee Temple won 87-77 in men's basketball at Morris College on Thursday, but the Temple Lady Crusaders fell 87-61 to the Sumter, S.C., school. Elliot Johnson had 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists for the Crusaders (16-10), while Travaris Clarke also scored 13 and Darius Davis added 12. TaQuasha O'Neal had 27 points and seven steals and Angel Foster had 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots for the Lady Crusaders (13-140.

* Covenant College lost 78-74 in its USA South men's basketball makeup game Thursday at Piedmont. Colton McGriff scored 14 points, Teron Ferguson had 12 and Chris Boyd and Daniel Garrett tallied 11 each in defeat for the Scots (8-16, 3-10). Jessie Blankenship had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Aleigha Williams had 13 rebounds in an 81-53 loss for the Lady Scots (7-17, 3-9). Alexis Storteboom had 20 points and eight rebounds in Wednesday's 70-67 win over Huntingdon, when Blankenship and Morgan Woodward scored 12 points apiece.

Tennis

* The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team beat Mercer 6-0 Thursday in the Mocs' first outdoor match of 2014. With rain threatening they started with singles on the UTC courts, and doubles were not necessary. Kayla Jones, Kaylene Chadwell, Alexa Flynn, Kelsey Coots, Claire Mulyadi and Alison Storie all won in straight sets for UTC (5-2), dropping the Bears to 3-5.

Softball

* Cleveland State finally opened its weather-plagued softball season Wednesday and won 2-1 and lost 8-0 at Gadsden State. Kelsey Haley pitched a five-hitter in the first game and got the win when Kristen Qualls doubled in two runs after Perry Hindi singled and Emily Huston walked in the top of the seventh.
