Williams-led Sewanee clips Lynx in OT

Rhodes College had a harder time than should have been expected in its Southern Athletic Association women's basketball game Friday night at Sewanee, but the Lynx improved to 20-3 and 12-1 in league play with a 54-44 victory.

Freshman Jorden Williams from McCallie School scored 22 points as Sewanee won the men's game 81-69 in overtime.

Keshonn Carter had 18 points and 13 rebounds and Marcellus Caldwell and Matt Tome scored 14 and 12 points for the Tigers (12-12, 5-8). Leo Born had eight points. Johnny Dunavant and Geoff Livsey scored 14 each for Rhodes (14-10, 7-6).

Lauren Avant's 32 points and eight rebounds paced the female Lynx with Symone Daniels adding 10 points and three blocked shots. Jamie Chauvin scored 10 points and Kayla Sewell had 12 rebounds to lead the Tigers (9-15, 2-11), while Casey Hassett had 10 rebounds and four assists with eight points off the bench.

• Thursday night at Montgomery, Ala., the first-year Dalton State men's team improved to 24-4 with a 78-62 defeat of Auburn-Montgomery. Demetrice Jacobs had 16 points and 11 rebounds and LaDaris Green also grabbed 11 missed shots for the Roadrunners, while Ricky Sears scored 15 points.
