CASL city meet this weekend - and more Chattanooga region sports news

The Chattanooga Area Swim League's season-concluding Bill Caulkins City Meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Warner Park pool, with sessions beginning at 8:30 each morning for the two youngest age groups and at 12:55 and 6 p.m. Friday and 12:45 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday for the older divisions. The Saturday finals could be moved up by teams' agreement. The Dalton Dolphins won the Blue Division with a 7-1 record but expects a strong city meet as usual from the Signal Mountain Green Giants. Signal Mountain went 6-2 in the regular season with two losses to Dalton but long has been the postseason power with its depth of talent. The Ooltewah Tidal Waves went 4-4 in the Blue and defeated the Dolphins in a weather-shortened meet, and the Fairyland Flash breezed to an 8-0 record in the second-tier Red Division and administered the Ringgold TigerSharks' only two defeats. The Calhoun Blue Barracudas were undefeated in the White Division, where the Ridgeland Dolpins were 6-2.

Baseball

• The 10-under Renegades select team based in Fort Oglethorpe won the Grand Slam World Series of Baseball this past week at Panama City Beach, Fla. The Renegades were the top seed from their pool after winning 12-4 over the Rockets from Walker, La., and tying the Wolfpack from Gadsden, Ala., 5-5, and they beat the Wolfpack 6-5, the Slammers from Newnan, Ga., 7-0 and the Wolfpack again, 9-6, in bracket play. Renegades players are Sam Bambrey, Ethan Evans, Sebastian Hanks, Cody Johnston, Cam Mullins, Mason Parker, Eli Smith, Peyton Tipton, Logan Valliere, Zeke Wheeler and Kyle White, and the coaches are Rusty Hanks, Jeremy Parker, Donnie Mullins and David Tipton.
