The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Amanda Cotter ended her Southern Conference track and field career with an all-conference third-place, personal-best time in the 1500-meter run and also scored points with an eighth in the 5000 at the SoCon meet Sunday in Birmingham. Teammate Jessica York was seventh in the 1500, Emily Drouin earned all-freshman recognition with a fifth in the 5k and Maddison Melchionna, Hannah Chamblin and Rebecca Greenwall were fourth, fifth and seventh in the 800. The Mocs' Drake Watson was men's all-freshman with a fifth in the 400 hurdles, and junior Marquis Carter was fifth in the 800 and joined DeQuantez Sandifer, Geoff Nelson and Jacob Noorbergen with a fifth in the 4x400 rekat.

* Sewanee's Ridge Davis, Amiel Emerson and Amy Lee won events in the Southern Athletic Association track and field meet Friday and Saturday in Memphis, and Tigers earned 12 All-SAA recognitions overall. Davis won in men's javelin and Emerson in the 800-meter run, and they were on the second-place 4x400 relay team with Zach Abeles and Alec Hill. Hill was second to Emerson in the 800. Lee was first in the women's 1500 and third in the 800, while Amy Nelson was second in the hammer throw and third in the discus. Sewanee's Tyler Fishback was second in high jump.

Baseball

* Lee University completed a sweep of its weekend Gulf South Conference baseball series in Memphis with a 6-5 win in 10 innings Sunday against Christian Brothers. Chris Adams was 4-for-6 with two runs and an RBI and Cameron Scott was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run for the Flames (29-17-1, 17-13-1), while Ben Holland drove in two runs and Andres Nelo and M.J. Brown each was 2-for-3.

* Chattanooga State will host the TCCAA/Region VII baseball tournament starting Wednesday after splitting a home doubleheader Saturday against Columbia State. The third-place Tigers won 2-1 in 10 innings and lost 8-6 to the league's second-place team.

Tennis

* The Sewanee tennis teams both won SAA tournament championships Sunday at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro, the men by a 6-2 score over Millsaps and the women 5-0 over Berry. The 12th-ranked Sewanee women are 17-5, and the No. 28 guys are 16-5.

Lacrosse

* Sewanee won the SAA men's lacrosse tournament final Sunday by edging Berry 7-6 with four of the 11-3 Tigers' last five goals by Robbie Berndt, but the Sewanee women fell for the first time all season with a 13-10 home loss to Rhodes. Berndt scored the male Tigers' final two goals, including the match winner from a Cotter Brown assist with 2:36 to go. They trailed 5-4 after three periods. Jimmy Parker scored two goals and Brown assisted Berndt twice. Nick Voso made 17 saves for Berry (12-5). Kendall Cunningham had four goals and an assist for the Rhodes women (14-1), who avenged a 12-11 regular-season loss. Katie Riddle, Ellie Murphy and Sally Anne Greenwood each had two goals and an assist for Sewanee (17-1).

Golf

* Sewanee's Emily Javadi and her former Baylor School teammate Alyssa Brown of second-place Centre, tied for third individually with Berry's Sydney Weaver with 54-hole 236s as the SAA women's golf tournament ended Sunday at the Old Fort course in Murfreesboro. Champion Rhodes had the top two finishers. Sewanee's Brook Vann and Alison Eleey tied for 16th and 19th at 256 and 258 as the Tigers finished fourth. Sewanee was seventh in the men's tourney.

* Oliver Simonsen of Ooltewah tied for third at 151 in the Sneds Tour golf event this past weekend at Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club in Hendersonville, Tenn. Hunter Wolcott of Burns, Tenn., won by five strokes with a 136.

Football

* The Tennessee Train women's football team based in Chattanooga is 1-1 after winning 36-12 on the road against the Knoxville Lightning on Saturday. The Train will host the Huntsville Tigers this Saturday night at 7 at Central High School. Admission costs $10, $5 for senior citizens; ages 11-under get in free.

Basketball

* LaFayette's Sprite Dyer signed last week to enroll and play basketball at Georgia Northwestern Technical College. "She's probably one of the most well-liked students and athletes I've ever seen come through LaFayette High School," former Lady Ramblers coach Tommy Swanson said in a GNTC release. "She was an excellent rebounder for us, and she plays hard all the time." Dyer was an undersized post but also provided scrappy defense, according to GNTC coach David Stephenson, who expressed delight with adding her toughness and leadership ability to a team with only three returning players.
