Chatt State signs 12 for softball

Chattanooga State's 2015 softball season will be starting on Feb. 6, but the Lady Tigers already have 12 players signed for next year.

Included in that group are three pitchers from the state of Tennessee -- Emily Smith of Knoxville, Alexis Bonano of Lakeland and Caroline Faulkner of Murfreesboro -- according to a release from the community college this past week. Liv Chandlar from Tampa, Fla., is a catcher set to work with them.

In-state infielders Madison Kurtz from Clarksville, Kayla Logoleo from Nashville and Maddie Woodruff from Murfreesboro will be joined on the dirt by Jenna McElheney from Winterville, Ga., as Chattanooga State will be losing Dana Horgan and Katy Richardson after this spring. And Lillie McCrary is coming from Pisgah, Ala., to provide "power and depth" with her "strong bat" and fielding versatility, the release said.

Three other Tennesseans have signed as outfielders: Harley Henton from Heiskell, Brooklyn Pendergrast from Murfreesboro and Andi Smith from Maynardville.

Additionally, Ringgold, Ga., resident Megan McCroy has signed to be a manager for the Lady Tigers.

Chattanooga State went 55-8 and finished third in the NJCAA national tournament in 2014, Blythe Golden's second season as coach.
