The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's golf team is in 11th place, one shot ahead of Mississippi State and Memphis, after the first round of Auburn's 16-team Tiger Invitational at the Grand National Lakes Course in Opelika, Ala. Auburn took a four-shot lead Sunday with a 290, 14 strokes better than UTC. The Mocs' Ewan Scott is tied for 12th at 73; Andrew Weathers and Kory Webb shot 76 and 77.

Softball

* Nationally 25th-ranked Kansas won the rubber game of its softball series with UTC at Stetson's tournament in Deland, Fla. Kansas won 11-3 in five innings Sunday after winning 11-1 and losing 4-0 against the Mocs earlier in the weekend. Two walks and a single helped set up a two-out grand slam for the Jayhawks (21-2) in the bottom of the first inning, but UTC (13-6) scored two runs in the second before allowing five in the next two Kansas at-bats. Anyssa Robles was 2-for-3 with a double and Alyssa Taylor was 1-for-1 with a double for the Mocs, each scoring a run and Taylor driving in one. Freshman pitcher Cori Jennings, who had shut out the Jayhawks on Saturday, gave up five hits, five walks and nine runs, though only the first four were earned, in 2 2/3 innings.

* Lee University won 10-4 Saturday evening in the first game of a Gulf South Conference softball series at West Alabama and then won 7-2 and lost 7-5 Sunday. NiaRaye Ceasar was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and Kaylie Drew also homered and singled for the Lady Flames (12-9, 4-8). Leigh Beatenbough got the pitching win with Angie Hughes recording seven strikeouts in three innings of relief. Lee's Dominique Hannah was 2-for-4 with two RBIs in each game Sunday, with a homer in the win and a triple in the loss, when Emily Dagnan homered. Lexie Dean and Drew each was 3-for-4 and Brooke Bailey had two RBIs in support of Beatenbough's winning four-hitter.

* Chattanooga State completed a four-game weekend TCCAA softball sweep of Roane State with 8-0 and 9-2 wins Sunday. McKenzi Ferguson gave up one hit in her four innings pitched in game one, when Lindsey Stickrod was 1-for-1 with a two-run double, Katy Richardson was 1-for-1 and scored a run and Courtney Crawford was 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Morgan Boggess was the winning pitcher in game two, and Stickrod was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Shannon Plese had two hits, two runs and an RBI, and Katie Scott and Cassidy Howren each was 1-for-2 with a double, Scott with an RBI.

Baseball

* Lee University lost 3-2 and won 12-6 in Gulf South baseball Saturday at West Alabama. Trenton Hill batted in both runs for the Flames in the first game. In their win, Ben Holland was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, M.J. Brown was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Andres Nelo was 3-for-4 and scored three runs and Luke Toms also scored three and had two RBIs. West Alabama (12-8, 6-5) won Sunday's game 10-9, but Toms was 3-for-4 and Holland was 2-for-4 with two RBIs apiece for Lee (12-6-1, 4-6-1), and Siosi Poti had two hits and scored twice.

* Rhodes College erupted late in both games and beat Sewanee 14-9 and 12-1 in a Southern Athletic Association baseball doubleheader relocated Saturday to Atlanta. The Lynx also won Sunday's game, 9-3. Leadoff batter Bill Munson drove in seven runs in the two Saturday games for Rhodes (13-2, 6-0), and Andrew Wallis was 2-for-3 with four RBIs Sunday. For Sewanee (4-4, 2-4), Tyler Minkkinen was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Michael Walker was 2-for-4 and Brett Polston and Ben Clune each scored twice in Saturday's opener. Clune was 3-for-3 and Nathaniel Howard was 2-for-2 and scored the run in game two, and Jackson Cooper was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs Sunday.

Lacrosse

* Mallory Grimm and Relly King each scored four goals, Sally Anne Greenwood and Ellie Murphy added three apiece and Katie Riddle had a goal and four assists as the Sewanee women's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 for the season with a 19-7 home win Sunday against Carthage. The Sewanee men fell to 2-1 with a 13-2 loss at nationally ranked Denison.

Tennis

* The 14th-ranked Sewanee women's tennis team beat visiting Agnes Scott 9-0 on Sunday. In doubles, the Tigers' Clementina Davila and Kate Johnston won 8-0 and Maggie Crumbliss/Christina Merchant and Elske Parker/Taylor Childress took 8-1 wins. Bronte Goodhue won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Merchant, Crumbliss, Annie Veron, Childress and Mariah Smith also won handily.

* The Covenant College women's tennis team won 9-0 over Ferrum and 7-2 over Lynchburg on Saturday, and the Covenant men won 8-1 and 7-2. Gretchen Rowe, Claire Luger, Gracie Smith and Jennie Spielman each won twice in singles for the Lady Scots (5-1), with Annie Deluca, Lindsay Geving and Jessica Rowe winning their lone singles chances. Matthew Harvie, Chris Cox, Michael O'Brien, John Granholm and Jay Pannkuk were singles winners for the Scots (4-2) against Ferrum, and O'Brien, Roy Anderson, Connor Shimmel and Travis Hutchinson won against Lynchburg.
