The late Rev. King Oehmig, the ultra-successful 12-year Baylor School golf coach, was one of the honorees announced Saturday for the 50th anniversary induction banquet of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. The banquet is set for June 18 at the Omni Nashville. Another posthumous inductee will be quarterback Steve McNair of Tennessee Titans fame. The others are Lester McClain, the University of Tennessee's first black football player; former Volunteers defensive back Conrad Graham; former Memphis and NFL star receiver Earnest Gray; SEC official and former UT-Martin football player Mike Taylor; UT runner and bronze-medal Olympian Missy Kane; race driver Mike Curb; decorated midstate sports writer Joe Biddle and, as a group, the six Canale brothers from Memphis who played football at Tennessee and Mississippi State. Milligan College coach and five-sport athlete Duard Walker will be the Lifetime Achievement inductee.

* UTC is holding its fall C Club Celebration as part of homecoming this Friday and Saturday. All of the school's former athletes are welcome, but they have to let Alex Ware (425-5866) know by Wednesday that they plan to attend. Any former Mocs who are not members of the club can secure a 2015-16 membership for $37.50. The weekend's activities are free, including a 3:30-5 p.m. campus tour and 5:30-7 p.m. social hour Friday, tailgating from 11 to 2 on Saturday at Finley Stadium and the Western Carolina football game at 2 p.m. Game tickets will be free for C Club members and their immediate families.

Running

* Lee University won the men's championship and finished second in the women's race at the Gulf South Conference cross country meet Saturday at the Oakville Indian Mounds course in Alabama. Lee's Harold Smith and Seth Eagleson were second and fourth in 24:45.61 and 25:04.38 in the 8-kilometer race, with Camden Perez 12th and Terris Elliott, Gus Whitman and Brandon Raleigh also in the top 20. The Lady Flames finished behind only West Alabama among the 11 teams in the 5k, with Audrey Smith fifth in 18:38.82, Jessica Childers 10th, Erin Fondren 12th and Amy Carpenter 15th.

* Dalton State's Spencer Head was the men's individual winner and the Roadrunners were second out of 31 teams in the Asics Sand Shark Invitational cross country meet Saturday in Hardeeville, S.C. Head completed the 8k in 24:21.34, and teammate Paul Patterson was eighth in 25:27.95 with Paul Schupp 17th. Bryan College and Tennessee Wesleyan were 11th and 12th among the men's teams. Wesleyan was fourth and Dalton State was sixth in the women's 5k with DSC's Emily Poole fifth individually in 18:12.79.

* Jeremy Miller of Chattanooga nipped Justin Guy of Dayton by a second, 38:16 to 38:17, to win the Signal Mountain Pie Run 10k on Saturday, and 18-year-old Josie Grube of Ooltewah was the women's winner and eighth overall in 40:42. Ryan Shrum, Neal Hanley and Jose Pulido were third through fifth with times below 39:30. Guy was second to Corinne Henderson in the prediction category.

Volleyball

* Silvia Sartori had 14 kills and 12 digs and Catherine Conley registered 12 kills as Lee University won 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 26-24) in Gulf South volleyball Saturday against Alabama-Huntsville (16-10, 7-7). Hillary Hoffpauir had 35 assists and Stephanie Hernandez made 19 digs for Lee (10-13, 5-8), which later shook off a bad start to beat Trevecca Nazarene 3-1 (13-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-15). Sartori and Conley had 20 and 16 kills in that one, Hoffpauir had 44 assists and hernandez and Sartori had 26 and 16 digs. Sarah Davis had 10 digs.

* Chelsea VanDyk had 18 kills in each match and surpassed 1,300 for her Covenant College volleyball career as the Lady Scots beat two USA South foes Saturday, 3-1 over William Peace and 3-0 over North Carolina Wesleyan. That gave Covenant (16-9, 13-1) nine wins in a row. Ginny Moore had 14 kills and 17 digs and Schuyler Moore had 38 assists, 12 digs and eight kills in the 25-23, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20 first match, when Hannah Stewart had 12 digs and Ariana Buchanan had 11 digs with nine assists. In the 25-17, 25-12, 25-17 win, Ginny Moore had 12 kills, four aces and 17 digs, Schuyler had 39 assists and 13 digs and Buchanan had 13 digs.

* Faulkner won 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 15-11) in a Southern States Athletic Conference volleyball match against Dalton State on Saturday in Montgomery, Ala. Faulkner is 18-10 overall and 8-4 in the league. For Dalton State (10-11, 4-7), Savannah Nelson had 14 kills and Kianna Delaney and Marta Guntin had 10 each, while Michala Askew had 35 assists, Karly Newman had 21 digs and Anna Metzler had eight kills and 13 digs.

* The first-place Bryan College volleyball team improved to 21-13 and 15-2 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference with a 3-1 (25-15, 25-23, 21-25, 25-19) win Saturday over Columbia, and Tennessee Wesleyan is 10-13, 8-7 after losing 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-19) to St. Andrews.

* Hendrix won 3-0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-15) in Southern Athletic Association volleyball Saturday at Sewanee. Caroline Montgomery led Sewanee (10-13, 3-10) in kills with eight, while Walker Buxton had 21 assists and 10 digs and Sara Jayne Sutton and Caroline Owens had 13 and 11 digs. Hendrix is 19-7, 12-1 in the SAA.

Football

* UTC assistant football coach Rusty Wright will be the guest speaker for the Chattanooga Quarterback Club's noon luncheon meeting Monday at Finley Stadium, and the public is invited. Attendance costs $10 with a meal, $4 without. Wright, a former UTC player, is the linebackers coach and special-teams coordinator.
