Paulette Tawzer took up golf about four years ago so she could join her husband on the links.
"Mike tried hard to make my golf experience good, and some men do the opposite so their ladies won't want them to play," Tawzer said. "This is pretty much my only exercise, and I love it."
Tawzer has taken lessons and earlier this year broke 90 for the first time.
She usually has a calm composure on the course. When she does get aggravated, she'll give her ball a name "and just whack at it," she said.
"Usually, the name is Mike," her husband chimed in.
She doesn't smack him -- or his namesake -- all the time. In fact, they regularly head out for scenic road trips on two-lane highways through the mountains just for different views.
"I like to go up to Gatlinburg and Cherokee and see things that other people never see," Tawzer said.
