Around Copper Basin, Cougars fans might call a certain group of seniors the Magnificent Seven, especially after they led their team to an 8-1 record. Those with longer memories might call them the Surviving Seven.

Copper Basin is 8-0 and already assured of the Cougars’ best showing since 2000, when Mark Stone coached them to an 8-4 season.

The Associated Press' Top 10 teams in each of Tennessee's six Division I non-financial aid classifications and in the combined Division II financial aid classification as selected by Tennessee AP-member sportswriters and broadcasters.

Copper Basin showed its confidence about the 2010 season with its opening 42-6 victory last week.

Copper Basin’s season-opening high school football game last week suggested that the Cougars have been stewing since Nov. 13, 2009. That’s when their season ended with a Class 1A second-round state-playoff loss at Harriman.
