From the time East Hamilton began fielding high school sports teams in the fall of 2009, the Hurricanes' and Lady Hurricanes' programs quickly developed a rivalry with nearby Ooltewah.

Anyone who saw only the fifth set in Tuesday's District 5-AAA high school volleyball match at East Hamilton may have thought the teams played close all the way.

Notre Dame's defense Saturday looked like it picked up right where it left off last year.

East Hamilton receiver and defensive back Martez Durrah is the No. 6-ranked college football prospect among area high school seniors.

As someone who loves high school football, I look forward to the area tour each year. So for the 15th consecutive year, on the first day Tennessee teams are allowed to practice in full pads, I tried to visit as many area schools as possible.

Twelve area players were named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state boys' soccer teams that were announced Monday.
