All high school sporting events in the Chattanooga area were called off because of Tuesday's snowstorm, creating more scheduling problems on top of those caused previously by unusually cold temperatures.

TSSAA kickoffs at 7 p.m. local time; Georgia games at 7:30

Slightly more than a dozen TSSAA Division I football teams are entering the first round of tonight's state playoffs with 4-6 records.

Evensville is over the mountain from Dunlap, but former Sequatchie County football coach Mike Zeller is coming back close to the area where he lived and coached for three years.

Since its inception, the TSSAA football playoff six-classification format has created controversy. But it can also produce intriguing matchups, and this year there's a chance for several area rematches in the first two rounds alone.

The TSSAA announced its high school football playoff brackets Saturday morning and 20 Chattanooga-area teams qualified for the playoffs. First-round games kickoff on Friday and the postseason culminates with the BlueCross Bowl state championship games, to be played Dec. 5-7 at Tennessee Tech University.

COALMONT, Tenn. — Much like last year's season-ending game between these two football programs, Notre Dame's Irish were just too much for Grundy County as they took 41-0 District 7-AA win Friday night.

Rhea County has clinched the District 6-AAA championship and will be in the Class 5A playoffs.

The last Friday of Tennessee's high school football regular season has numerous coaches changing their postgame rituals.

Storyline: The District 7-AA championship is on the line. Signal can take it with a win while Sequatchie would need to win and Grundy County beat Notre Dame to get it.
