All Tennessee kickoffs at 7 p.m. local time

Need to add the Georgia teams once the bracket is out

TSSAA kickoffs at 7 p.m. local time; Georgia games at 7:30

Since its inception, the TSSAA football playoff six-classification format has created controversy. But it can also produce intriguing matchups, and this year there's a chance for several area rematches in the first two rounds alone.

The TSSAA announced its high school football playoff brackets Saturday morning and 20 Chattanooga-area teams qualified for the playoffs. First-round games kickoff on Friday and the postseason culminates with the BlueCross Bowl state championship games, to be played Dec. 5-7 at Tennessee Tech University.

Rhea County has clinched the District 6-AAA championship and will be in the Class 5A playoffs.

The last Friday of Tennessee's high school football regular season has numerous coaches changing their postgame rituals.

Storyline: The District 7-AA championship is on the line. Signal can take it with a win while Sequatchie would need to win and Grundy County beat Notre Dame to get it.

Ron Crawford has nowhere to go Friday night -- unless his wife tells him differently -- so he might go scouting or simply stay at home and catch the scores on the radio.

(Coaches are invited to make nominations. Send an e-mail to Ward Gossett at wgossett@timesfreepress.com by 6 p.m. each Saturday.)

Storyline: This is playoff preparation between two ranked teams in different districts, but the same postseason Class 5A grouping.

How many more years are non-scholarship private schools that are in Tennessee's Division I with public schools going to stay, or be allowed to stay?
