Much like the Postal Service motto that claims its carriers refuse to allow any outside elements to prevent them from making their appointed rounds, Skylar Parton refuses to let even a birth defect prevent her from playing the game she loves.

The injured mouth and dental repair for one player and the staples in the head of another eventually will be forgotten, but Arts & Sciences baseball coaches, players, administrators and fans never will forget the heart-felt hospitality and sympathy extended by host Marion County after two Patriots players collided during a game last week.

Silverdale Baptist Academy scuffled through the District 5-A high school softball season a year ago while Arts & Sciences was busy winning the district regular season for the first time in school history.

Other than a third-inning pitching lapse, Boyd-Buchanan had the best of all the baseball facets in a 9-2 victory Tuesday at Silverdale Baptist Academy.

Not even three weeks into the TSSAA softball season and already evidence shows that a collection of freshman pitchers are making a big impression in the Chattanooga area.

Baylor emerged as the only 2-0 team through the first three games at The Summit of Softball Complex on Friday in first-day action in East Hamilton’s Choo Choo Classic high school tournament.

Soddy-Daisy's softball team traveled to Kentucky over the weekend, and for two reasons.

Comebacks were the order of the day in the Region 3-A girls' high school basketball semifinals Monday at Arts & Sciences. One was early; one was late. One worked; one didn't.

For the first time ever, the District 5-A finals are going to be a two-edDragoo affair.

TSSAA Class AAA state wrestling results

The Hixson Wildcats ran away with the state's first Region 2-A/AA wrestling championship, scoring 200 points and qualifying 12 for the traditional state tournament this week, after barely leading a close team race going into Saturday.

The goal at Hixson High School hasn’t changed. Coach Garrick Hall and the Wildcats want to win the region wrestling tournament.

The area's busiest Tennessee campuses during signing day were Baylor and East Hamilton, which had five players each who signed scholarships Wednesday.

It became evident early Tuesday evening that it was going to be Megan Lewis's night, when the Silverdale Baptist Academy guard hit her first shot. Then she hit her second -- then a few more.
