The goal at Hixson High School hasn’t changed. Coach Garrick Hall and the Wildcats want to win the region wrestling tournament.

The area's busiest Tennessee campuses during signing day were Baylor and East Hamilton, which had five players each who signed scholarships Wednesday.

It became evident early Tuesday evening that it was going to be Megan Lewis's night, when the Silverdale Baptist Academy guard hit her first shot. Then she hit her second -- then a few more.

It seems most high school basketball teams would be hurt by the graduation of all-state players. But for Bledsoe County's boys and Silverdale Baptist Academy's girls, they've picked up the slack for the all-stars they lack.

All high school sporting events in the Chattanooga area were called off because of Tuesday's snowstorm, creating more scheduling problems on top of those caused previously by unusually cold temperatures.

It was difficult to discern Thursday which was colder: the temperature outside or the first-half shooting inside the Silverdale Baptist Academy gymnasium during the District 5-A girls' basketball game between Arts & Sciences and the Lady Seahawks.

Shane Turner had high hopes when he assumed the head-coaching duties for Red Bank's wrestling program.

Key players: South Pittsburg's run-first offense is led by a pair of 1,000-yard rushers. Senior RB Jajuan Lankford, a Mr. Football finalist in two of the last three seasons, averages nearly 12 yards per carry, while classmate Kahlil Mitchell is a hammer at both FB in the wing-T as well as on defense from his LB spot.

The third round of the TSSAA football playoffs will be a week of firsts for the Chattanooga area's surviving teams.

All Tennessee kickoffs at 7 p.m. local time
