Sweetwater

For some this is, pure and simple, rivalry week. For many more, though, Friday is shaping up as Decision Week, chapter one.

Al Rogers made it a point this week to write the four previous wins his eighth-ranked Silverdale Seahawks had collected this season on the blackboard. Heading into the Sweetwater game Friday night, Rogers wanted to make sure his bunch understood the magnitude of the task ahead.

Clinton Harris likely is alive today because Ted Gatewood, his football coach, had decided an athletic trainer was a must for East Hamilton High School.

So who, besides me, bit the dust over the weekend?

Storyline: The Panthers came within a field goal of their first win last week at Red Bank, and they may be settling in offensively. Sam Caffey had a 300-yard passing game last week. Baylor will be their second Division II-AA opponent in three weeks, and the Red Raiders are coming off their first loss of the season. The Baylor offensive scheme is built around RB George Porter, who ranks second among area rushers. Sophomore Ryan Parker has been the Red Raiders' top defender, already with four sacks and five lost-yardage tackles.

So anybody want to talk about surprises?
